Once an obscure grape grown primarily in the Rhône Valley, Viognier has gained popularity with those drinkers looking for something different in white wine. Believed to originate in Dalmatia, this floral varietal did not travel far from its adoptive home in France until very recently, but now you can find world-wide renditions from sweet to bone dry. If you like your wines balanced, look to France where Viognier is popular as a single varietal wine and in blends - both red and white. With its oldest vines located in the northern Rhône (Condrieu), Viognier has also made its way south into Languedoc-Roussillon. Maison Cubi is an importer of well-priced French wine in bottles as well as 3 Liter boxes. Neptune is their extraordinary value from Vin de Pays Côtes de Thongue, made near the Mediterranean. It's sunshine in a bottle with lovely perfumed fruit.

Flavor Profile: "A full palate with peach, mango flavors & a touch of lemon. A floral and aromatic wine that will pair beautifully with white meat, creamy sauces or even spicy dishes." Importer

From Astoria Wine and Spirits

If you’ve tried U.S. or Australian Viognier, The French version (the Original version!) is lighter, more elegant, with slightly higher acidity but the same glorious peach, floral, vanilla flavors. better suited for summer perhaps…. try it with asian, light creamy sauces.
