Marlborough, New Zealand Facts:

Marlborough is on the northern most tip of the southern Island of New Zealand, and known for its Sauvignon Blanc. Montana Winery began to plant Sauvignon Blanc in 1976, putting Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc on the work wine map. 

Marlborough has grown from 10,000 acres in 2000, to more than 32,000 acres of Sauvignon Blanc planted. Centered around the city of Blenheim, Marlborough has long sunny summers and moderate rainfall, around 30 inches per year. providing lots of sunshine without scorching heat through out spring, summer and fall. due to costal breeze and being further south. (remember New Zealand is in the Southern Hemisphere so south means closer to the Antarctic pole, or equates to roughly the same Latitude and Long Island, NY in the Northern Hemisphere)

Marlborough's producers, are able to make a wine that is balanced between green, crisp flavors and ripe, soft flavors, with a touch of gooseberry and even passion fruit on the palate and subtle unmistakable citrus, melon and lime zest complexity. 

Marlborough also make s lighter style chardonnay, and resiling made in both fruity and crisp dry style as well and late-harvest and botrytis- affected styles. There is also and active Méthode Champenoise Sparkling wine.
